Lack of Campus Safety

Last year campus security cuffed and arrested an African American male student and manhandled a female student, who were both protesting the school’s priorities. Though this set off a month of #NotMyLoyola activism, according to the Loyola Phoenix it didn’t bring meaningful change. Meanwhile the school is refusing to post a report on sexual assaults. Illinois law requires colleges and universities to report to the Attorney General every year on sexual assault complaints by their students. The law doesn’t require schools to post the AG report. Some schools do. Not Loyola-Chicago. Loyola told CBS 2While we currently do not have the report posted to our website, we are taking it into consideration.

We can only ensure that all these issues on campus are addressed adequately is if there is transparency and that all parties have the best possible information. Tell Loyola to work with its students to make sure safety and transparency is an utmost priority. Sign this petition calling for openness and a return to Jesuit values at Loyola.
