New Faculty Majority Award for Excellence in Activism

September 12, 2014 | By |

Last month, the New Faculty Majority announced the Steve Street Award for Extraordinary Faculty Activism, which recognizes activism through creative expression on behalf of contingent faculty.

Maria Maisto, NFM president, shared the news at the International Conference of the Coalition of Contingent Academic Labor (COCAL) in New York City, where activists from the U.S., Mexico and Canada gathered. The award will consist of a $500 prize, along with publication and recognition in a venue to be determined.

“By establishing this award, we hope to encourage other activists to follow Steve’s example by using their talents to advance the causes of economic and social justice through fearless intellectual and artistic critique,” Maisto said. Read more here.
